Grasse: the Fragonard Museum

The Fragonard Museum is located in the hôtel de Villeneuve, a magnificent historical building restored in keeping with the grand 18th century Grasse mansions. Dedicated to the most famous child of Grasse, namely the painter Jean-Honoré Fragonard (1732-1806), the museum displays over a dozen major works by this great artist. It also houses a collection of paintings of two other Grasse artists namely Marguerite Gérard (1761-1837) and Jean-Baptiste Mallet (1759-1835). This ensemble is the second largest French collection of works by Jean-Honoré Fragonard after the Louvre and the first largest collection of the two other artists. Every year, the museum puts on temporary painting and photography exhibitions.
